So my last post here will be about my mini sessions! It is that time of year again! This year's mini sessions will be held at the ever popular Heritage Farms Apple Orchard in Scholls, George Rogers Park in Lake Oswego, Jenkins Estate (Fall Leaves) and Sleighbells Tree Farm for those beautiful Christmas tree portraits. There are more dates added this year as all sessions have sold out in the past. We now have twice as many options for most locations! :)

The cost to you would be $30 for the session fee, which includes a 20 minute session and a 5x7 of your choice! There is no obligation to purchase more, however, if you choose to do so, you will get 20% off! Beach Weekend!!!! Apple Blossom Photography will be at Cannon Beach on the dates of 8/6 and 8/7. We will be scheduling 5 sessions each day. Each session will last around one hour and is going to be priced at our regular prices. No special expensive pricing just because it is the beach! The session fee is $125 for up to 5 people (which includes a $50 portrait coupon to be used towards your order). Each additional person is $10 each. It has been such a mild winter in Portland this year, thank goodness! I got an email from a very nice family that I took portraits of this past fall at one of my mini sessions. It turns out the mom is pregnant and she wanted some maternity portraits with cherry trees that are blooming. As it worked out, the trees bloomed early for us and we found ourselves at Waterfront Park in DT Portland taking these shots. Enjoy!

What a fabulous session! Today I ventured to DT Portland to do a photo shoot with a senior girl! Together we rocked the session. Could of kept on shooting if it was not for those pesky parking meters! lol! It was windy, but sunny on occasion. The sun did hide most of the time behind a thin layer of clouds, but even with that, it all went great!

Today I had a shoot for a family of four at their home. I was blessed with lots of natural light as this house had tons of windows. It was still so dark and gloomy outside, I ended up using my flashes anyway! There are lots of cute pictures, I just picked these two for a quick preview. She just happened to be my first newborn session last spring and this winters first indoor session (not including newborns). I cannot wait until she turns one, hopefully I will get to photograph her walking and toddling around.

Things have been busy!!!

So very busy! I feel so blessed that I have had such great success in this business. There are so many photographers out there and for all my clients to choose me is an honor. Thank you!

December has been incredibly busy. Tomorrow I await the arrival of 24 different orders from my lab. That was just from two weeks worth of shoots. I must admit, I am a bit nervous. Tomorrow night will be a busy night, packaging it all up for delivery.

I had 4 shoots this weekend, the last of them for 2009! Many great things are set to happen in 2010, I just know it! With that, I leave you with this wonderful picture of my legs. Yes, my legs. This is what I looked like after one of my shoots this weekend. I unfortunately had to great some other clients after this muddy mess happened. This picture below is actually a very common thing to happen to me this time of year. I just cannot help it...

Today was a beautiful day! It was raining on and off this morning when I had a scheduled photo shoot, but we met anyway! Today I was greeted in a North Portland park by a super nice family with a super cute blue eyed boy. He greeted me with a high five and a smile! This little cutie is still learning to walk, so we got kinda wet today. Who am I kidding, we were soaked from sitting and crawling around on the ground. By we, I meant this little guy and me. :)

This past Sunday was a perfect day to have a photo shoot. It was a bit cool, but sunny with the wonderful smell of fall in the air. I met a super fun and nice family at the apple orchard. Today started off to be a dark and rainy day. We ended up canceling a shoot, which was a bummer. Things did look up though in the afternoon when I got to photograph a darling little 9 day old baby girl. Of course, when you want her to, she would not sleep. We finally wore her out and were able to mold her in different poses for about 10 minutes or so! YAY! Here is a small preview from today!

Last week I got to photograph this adorable little 5 day old baby. All started off well, nice and sleepy little man, them I moved him and the heater kept blowing the fuse. Cooler air and moving baby = awake baby! We spent hours and hours trying to get him to sleep so I could pose him. In spite of all of this, I did get some darling shots of him. I do admit, I love the wide awake shots of newborns. :)

I am a bit behind with my blog! Things have been very busy here in the portrait business. It is a blessing and I feel so lucky that people want me to take their portraits. They trust that I can capture those special moments. :)

A few weeks back I got to photography this darling 7 month old girl along with her parents, auntie and fellow doggie siblings. It was so very hot (this was during the heat wave), so we shot at around 6:30 at Jenkins Estate. It was still hot, but the light was great!

Today's session was with an adorable little 1 year old girl. She had no hair, which I have a soft spot for (my daughter didnt get her first haircut until she was 4!). Due to the heatwave, we decided to move up our session to 7:30am. This worked out perfect because it was warm, not hot, and because the light was awesome and soft. Jenkins Estate is such a great place to take portraits. It is beautiful, has lots of different landscaping (pond, buildings, flowers) and Camp Rivendale park is right next to it! This past weekend I had the honor of shooting a session at Portland Classical Chinese Gardens in DT Portland. What a beautiful place it was. I cannot wait until this darling little 6 month old girl is walking, we can then go so many different shots. :) But for now, we got some darling ones of her. Whenever you would put her on her belly, her arms would shoot out to her sides like she was flying. So cute! Enjoy!

This week I got to take a few more maternity portraits. This time we did some more at the home of this lovely pregnant lady and some in the nearby field with the bench. We shot the pics in the field at a little after 7pm. The lighting rocked! We got some great sunflare and warm backlighting. The pic below of the little man was taken during a good game of peek-a-boo, the only thing that would really get him in the picture! :)

Rose Garden Session - Portland Oregon Family and Childrens Photography

Yesterday it rained all morning! Thankfully, it cleared away by the afternoon and left us with a warm day at the Rose Gardens in Portland. Parking was crazy! Boy did I feel bad for the DH who must of circled the parking area several times! All in all, we had a good time. The wet ground made it difficult to do lots of poses, but we made due. The place was packed with photographers and a few weddings. Here are some shots from yesterday!

Farms, Fields and Fun!

What a fun shoot! Yesterday I met a family at Baggenstos Farm off of Roy Rogers. After spending a bit of time there, we decided to take some pics on my new bench! So we drove down Scholl's Ferry and pulled over on the side of the road (not to worry, it was a spot with a huge shoulder, plenty away from cars). This spot had lots of little flowers, little trees and a deer. :) I cannot describe how awesome this little location was. Well, both locations were awesome. Nothing like an old red barn and then a field of flowers. Here are some shots from yesterday! The first two are the same portrait, I just added a grungy texture to the first one. :)

New Prop!

Today was garage sale day! On this special day I search the city for anything that I can use for a prop. I have been searching for what is called an "ugly chair" for months. I finally ran across this bench at a sale today. While some will call it an "ugly bench", I will call it a beauty! It was perfect as I took my daughter at high noon today to a field just down the street to try it out. Even at noon it worked perfectly. We will be heading down at sunset to try again since it was too bright, however I cannot help but post a few snaps from our quick session. :)

This past weekend was a beautiful sunny one! What a perfect time for a photo session! This session was booked just in time, because the little boys grin had a huge gap in it and that gap was starting to fill in. It was so cool to capture that stage in his life. The dog was great, the kids were great, it was just a very nice session. It went so fast! I even got a shot where I could use a lovely vintage action on it (the mother/daughter shot below). Today we moved our photo shoot to actually beat the rain. We were supposed to shoot Sunday, but the forecast calls for rain, and more rain! A few hours after our photo shoot this morning it started to thunder and rain in buckets. What luck we had!

I got a great workout photographing this little 18 month old dude. He was a cutie, happy as can be, as long as he could walk around and look at everything. He was really a great subject. :) Got lots of cute shots today. Here is a sampling...

Yesterday I had the pleasure of photographing a 12 day old baby girl. Usually they sleep the whole time, and this makes the baby easy to pose, but this little girl had a whole other thought in mind. She slept for the first few shots, but then she woke up and showed us her eyes. She was quite the wiggly little girl, and hungry too!! :) It was fun to take her portraits. Yesterday was a beautiful day. It was in the low 70's and just perfect for a spring photo session. All week I was worried about cold and rain, turns out I did not need to worry! I had the pleasure of photographing a darling little 13 month girl and her parents. It was lots of fun! :) Here are a few pics from that session...

Yup, I am going to post a SOOC shot (straight out of camera). The wonderful thing about this shot was that I have a pretty good after to go with it! This portrait is of sweet baby Mizuki and her parents. I took this shot in their bedroom. I did not have alot of options for backdrops as the blank wall would of been great, but the light was not right. If I do remember correctly, the clouds were starting to cover up whatever sun we had. This is why shooting natural light indoors is so hard to do. Lack of light! Anyway, the SOOC stats are...ISO 2500 (eek!), 1/160 at f2.8. It is not the sharpest pic of the bunch, it was incredibly noisy, but really the only family pic we got.

So I had tons of post processing work on this portrait. First, I deleted all the stuff in the background, just had to erase it all. I wanted to cover up any little faults would see with the erasing (seams and blotches) so I added a texture, erased it where I did not want it, change the opacity. Then I ran a noise filter, sharpened. I cropped it up nicely too. Done! :) Of course this was my first time ever attempting anything like this, so there is a mistake. So therefore this is not the final draft. Plus, I am not too keen on the texture I selected. Back to the drawing board for me! I will post the final when I am all finished. :)

This past weekend was supposed to be a sunny one. I ended up scheduling a shoot for Sunday and it turned out to be foggy and a bit wet. Thank goodness it was not really raining when we did our shoot! This weekends portrait session was held at Jenkins Estate, my favorite place to be! They had trimmed back everything though, so it looked bare! No bother though...here are a few from the shoot, my favorites...

Details: On Sunday, November 30th, from 10am to 3pm, I will be scheduling holiday themed mini sessions at Al's Garden Center in Sherwood (http://www.als-gardencenter.com/) . Al's has decorated the nursery with wonderful colors and lots of trees. We will be meeting in the poinsettia room where you will find lovely reds, pinks and even blues and purples! This room is kept toasty warm and it is shielded from the rain!

What to expect: Mini session fee is $25, which includes one free digital image of your choice! Your session fee must be paid within 5 days of reservation, or your reservation will be opened up to the next person in line. Mini sessions last approximately 30 minutes. I will take family portraits along with individual portraits of your children. Proofs will be online within 5 days after session date (we are speeding things up so you can get your holiday cards out!).

Apple Blossom Photography has a new option for purchasing portraits. We now sell the digital files of your portraits to you. For the holiday mini sessions only, you can purchase individual files at $20 per high resolution file (includes one free print - 8x10 or under). What does this mean for you? It means you will have full access to your portraits. You can make slideshows, share via email, transfer to your ipod or iphone, put on digital frames (great gift!) or print yourself. Each image will be the highest quality that you can print with at any printer. The option to purchase individual prints is only available through this mini session. Discounts cannot be applied towards mini sessions and personal cameras are not allowed.

Last Wednesday I had the opportunity to take portraits of a whole gang of cousins! There were 5 kids total and tonight I am showing a preview of one individual portrait each. I have yet to make my way through the group shots, hopefully tomorrow! :)

Apple Orchard 10/19

Yesterday I met a very nice family at the apple orchard. I just love shooting portraits there! It was quite chilly out, but I think I got a few good shots of the little man running around the hay maze. The pumpkins were fun, piglets were oinking and the horses appeared to be very hungry (they tried to eat Paul's sweater!). Here is a little sneak peak...

Today was a super fun day shooting portraits. I did a super fun theme, lollipops and bubble gum. The bubble gum proved to be hard to photograph, but the lollipops rocked! :) I think we all had fun. Here are some pics from my three shoots...
